Ul gir di Alp

"Ul gir di alp" is a food and wine walk in the Blenio Valley, scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2024. Participants will be able to explore the alpine pastures and taste local products along an eleven-kilometer route.

At the end of the last century, a group of alpine farmers from the Blenio Valley and the then owner of the ski facilities, Nara del 2000 SA, organized a tour of the region's alpine pastures. This event offered participants the chance to discover the traditional mountain lifestyle and taste local products in the splendid natural amphitheater of Nara, where nature has remained unspoiled. Thus, it can be said that "Ul gir di alp" was the precursor to a series of similar events that have become popular tourist attractions throughout Italian-speaking Switzerland.

The alpine pastures from back then are still used by farmers from the localities that now make up the Municipality of Acquarossa. In recent years, the same alpine farmers have revived the idea of opening their alpine pastures to the public to showcase their work and the region's products. After the great success of the first four editions, we are proud to present UL GIR DI ALP again on SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, 2024.

Registration is mandatory and opens on June 1, 2024 (www.ulgirdialp.ch/copia-di-iscrizione).

The route of the food and wine tour will be the original one as in the past. The journey will be eleven kilometers long, with nine refreshment stations set up along the way:

  1. Cancorì Ristorante la Pernice, where breakfast will be served
  2. Piè del Sasso, water station
  3. Bar Pela, featuring products from Alpe Gualdo, yogurt, and other alpine products
  4. Alpe di Stabbio, fresh fruit and herbal tea
  5. Alpe Pian Nara, assorted cold cuts and wine
  6. Alpe Pian Laghetto, cheeses and wine
  7. Gariva, luganighetta and beer with products from the Alpe dei Boggesi of Ponto Valentino
  8. Pianezza, aperitif with pizza, fruit, and wine
  9. La Fornace, polenta with mortadella and gorgonzola or milk, all accompanied by a good glass of wine, followed by dessert, digestifs, and coffee

For those who find it difficult to walk up to Alpe Pian Nara, there will be an option to shorten the route by skipping three refreshment points and taking the chairlift directly to Alpe Pian Nara. Additionally, there will be an option to further shorten the route by taking a vehicle from Gariva to La Fornace, without missing any refreshment points.
