This paradise is large 20,000 m2. It was created in the mid-1950s. Hikers following the panoramic pathway from San Nazzaro harbour to Vira Gambarogno will definitely make a stop here. In the early months of the year, the Park Eisenhut is a treat for the eyes and a balm for the soul.

The water flowing on your hand is fresh, shimmering and clear like a powerful rush of energy. Put your hand in the stream and the water seems to oppose you. It won't let anything stand in its way. It passes over, under and beside any obstacle. Unstoppable and with a joyful gurgle it goes on its way. Everything flows. A true lesson in life, at this time of the morning!

In the morning, we are more sensitive to the signs of nature. It's a privilege to take a moment for yourself. You thank your family for this freedom and you enjoy a walk in the sun, a springtime sun that timidly warms you. You are walking along the part of the path that leads from Vairano to Piazzogna and, when you reach the entrance of the Eisenhut Park, you don't think twice. Everything is in full bloom, and there are more than 450 different types of magnolias, each one more beautiful than the other, with their delicacy and extraordinary elegance. A path winds among trees, bushes and more than 950 varieties of camellias. At times, the vegetation is so thick that, to pass through it, you have to bend or raise your arms to avoid becoming entangled in the branches. You are surrounded by an abundance of flowers, which are everywhere, and of all colours and shapes. Now it's the turn of the magnolias, followed by the bright colours of the camellias, azaleas, rhododendrons and peonies.

The park is a treasure trove of small joys for the soul. Close your eyes, turn your face towards the sun and inhale the spring breeze that carries the scent of damp earth and wood. And every time you look up, you have a breathtaking view in front of you. There are so many inviting spaces, where you can read a chapter of your book or just worship the sun. So, your morning walk is punctuated by various stops: to practise yoga on a mat of magnolias, to rest on the bench under the giant sequoia in front of the rustic cottage, or to do some breathing exercises on the top of a small hill with an inspiring view in the small dell through which the stream cheerfully flows. All of this in one park! For this afternoon, you have scheduled a visit to the Camelie Park in Locarno. Who knows what joys await you there?

What to put in your backpack

It doesn't take much to enjoy the year's first rays of sunshine. All you need is some free time and your five senses. But, for greater comfort, you'll need a yoga mat, a scarf to protect you from the spring breezes, a water bottle to refill at a fountain and an ever-present friend: your favourite book.
