A journey of discovery of edible flowers.

Days of the week: Wednesday and Saturday subject to availability.
Nex dates: 6, 20 April; 11, 15 May; 1, 15 June; 13, 27 July; 3, 10 August; 7, 24 September; 14, 30 October. Other dates on request.
Availability: all year round and on the basis of seasonal agricultural production.
Time: Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Other times on request.

Participants: min. 6, max. 20 participants
Difficulty: easy
Wheelchair accessibility: no (from May 2024 the facility will be partially accessible to wheelchairs)
Method of transport: Train. Also possible by bike.
Guide meeting point:

• 9:30 a.m.: main entrance of Cadenazzo SBB train station  

From here we will walk (approx. 20 minutes) to Caritas Ticino organic farm (CatiBio) in the Magadino Plain Park, which forms part of the Swiss Parks Network.

Let’s start our journey of discovery of edible flowers! 

Phase one: 
Picking the flowers. Processing the flowers by removing the petals on by one. Selecting and sorting the petals by colour. Preparing the petals for drying.

Phase two: 
Weighing the salt and petals. Preparing the mixture. Packaging in jars or bags. Each participant will have their own!

Snack or aperitivo at the end, depending on the time of day.

Other activities available depending on the season:

• Mid-July to late August: harvesting blueberries to make jam or for a rich, healthy snack to be enjoyed together
• September to October: pumpkin picking and aperitivo on the farm with a delicious pumpkin soup
• October to November: gathering chestnuts for a typical snack of vermicelles or roast chestnuts
• All year round: harvesting seasonal vegetables and making a savoury tarte using the produce available

Included in the price CHF 90 per person: bilingual guide, visit to the farm, activities.
