Gotthard hiking

Why not walking to Ticino? On the Gotthard-trail there are certainly no traffic jams! The Sentiero Gottardo was opened on the 125th anniversary of the Gotthard Railway in 2007. The trail runs from Erstfeld, in the Canton Uri, to Biasca.

Seventy information panels tell the tragic history of this world famous track and provide information about nature and culture in the Reuss Valley and in the Leventina Valley.

In addition to the impressive engineering constructions, the trail runs along other landmarks, such as the baroque church in Wassen, Uri typical farm houses, Romanesque churches and the museum in Giornico: Hans Josephson.

At the Alp transit information centers of Erstfeld and Pollegio it is also possible to discover the future of the Swiss rails. You can learn everything about the longest railway tunnel in the world: the Gotthard Base Tunnel, 57-kilometer-long.
