The Canvetto Luganese was reopened to the public by the Diamante Foundation in December 2000 after being closed for many years. A place cherished and appreciated by the people of Lugano, it was acquired and renovated to return it to the community as a neighbourhood centre and restaurant.
Activities
The Canvetto Luganese is a public meeting place with several functions corresponding to a number of activities:
- Since 2003, the restaurant has been recognised by Slow Food as one of Italy's Osterie d'Italia. In addition to its menu, it offers a banquet service
- The osteria offers quality wines and cold dishes with regional cold cuts and cheeses
- The pasta factory produces handmade pasta and ravioli

- Canvetto offers rooms for conferences, meetings and exhibitions
- It is an exhibition centre for contemporary photography
- It has free wireless internet access
- The Canvetto pasta factory is open to the public every morning for retail sales, and large quantities are also available to order
- Products from the Gudo organic farm can also be collected from the pasta factory to order
- Opportunities for orientation internships in collaboration with special schools and periods of observation or training, retraining and re-education at work on behalf of the disability insurance scheme
