Running in Gola di Lago, alone or in couples
The 44th edition will start at 4:15 pm from the ARL station in Tesserete and tackle the road leading to Alpe Santa Maria in Gola di Lago, covering 494 meters of elevation gain.
Launched in 2025, the 2x Relay format will also return, where two athletes will split the 7 km course. The start will coincide with the “traditional” race, and the handoff is scheduled roughly halfway along the route, at Ponte di Marca.
The route remains the same, entirely on paved roads, gradually approaching the final stretch, where the steepest climbs are concentrated within just under three kilometers.
The course records remain unbroken: Andrea Erni’s stunning 25’57’’ from 1992 and Cristina Moretti’s extraordinary 31’28’’ from 1995. This year, too, someone may attempt to break the record - whether the absolute record or a personal best - but as always, the race will be run primarily for the pleasure of reaching the 1,000-meter summit at the finish line, where participants will find their change of clothes and refreshments.
For the return trip, it is possible to follow the scenic trails and descend through the woods, or take the organized bus service; while the awards ceremony will take place at the race center at the Capriasca and Valcolla Sports Arena at 6:45 pm.
