The Bayerisches Staatsorchester's concert with conductor Vladimir Jurowsky is a not-to-be-missed event.

The Bavarian State Orchestra is one of the oldest and most universally acclaimed ensembles, both for its performances in the opera pit and on the concert stage.

Munich's opera house is a unique monument in Europe; the tradition with which the orchestra is associated goes back to Richard Wagner.

Vladimir Jurowsky succeeded Kirill Petrenko as Music Director of the Bayerische Staatsoper in autumn 2021. He shares the same reserved character, great concentration capacity, and an acute artistic vision as his compatriot. He is, therefore, unanimously regarded as one of today's leading conductors.

The programme seems to build a bridge between Weber's Oberon Overture and Schumann's Rhenish Symphony: the ancient myth of the Rhine as the cradle of the German nation and the serene industriousness of its people are reflected in the solid, radiant structure.

In the middle of the concert, the Emperor Concerto is entrusted to a Beethoven specialist, Emanuel Ax. The grandeur of the Fifth and last piano concerto and the heroic, solemn key of E-flat major have made this piece, over time, the most famous and popular of all the piano concertos in our symphonic literature.
