The manager of grape cultivation and wine production is the winemaker and enologist Gianfranco Chiesa. The rebuilding of the vineyards began in 1987, while Vini Rovio SA was founded in 1991. The firm vinifies only grapes from her own vineyards.
Currently the cultivated area measures 6.5 hectares and houses 18000 vine plants that are distributed in 9 vineyards of 3 different districts: Rovio, Pugerna and Ligornetto. The vineyards are located on hills, are in part mechanized and are cultivated according to the methods of the "Integrated Production". The yield of the vines is strictly supervised and limited.
Wines with particular flavors are produced, which respect the typical characteristics of each grape’s variety: Merlot, Chasselas, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Magliasina. In addition to the traditional production the firm is improving experiments with different new vines varieties. The global wine production is about 40,000 bottles in a year.
Since 1994 the winery disposes to a new cellar, located in the middle of the vineyards of Rovio, equipped with modern technologies. Nowadays the firm produces 9 qualities of wine, named according to their geographical origin and one grape's grappa.
