Itinerary

Day 1: Individual arrival to Airolo | Airolo – Ritom

Luggage drop-off in Airolo. From Airolo steep uphill to Valle di Büi. You can extend the tour to Lake Ritom via Föisc. Never-tired hikers can add a tour around the lake after arrival at the Refugio. Overnight stay on the shores of Lake Ritom.

Day 2: Ritom – Faido

Descent from Lago Ritom to Altanca and now along the Strada Alta, where silence reigns. Magnificent views of the Leventina and Val Bedretto mountain chains. Bright chapels shine in villages and meadows. From the old muleteer village Osco with the bus down to Faido.

Day 3: Faido – Biasca

Bus ride to Lavorgo. Giornico, the "door of the Leventina" is rich in historical monuments. From here you can climb one of the oldest access roads to the Leventina through Faido and Personico.

Day 4: Biasca – Bellinzona

From Biasca, the flat path crosses the Riviera, first following one bank of the Ticino river, then the other. A relaxing walk through woods of river origin that ends in the middle of the fortress of Bellinzona. Upon arrival, visit to the three castles of Bellinzona (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Day 5: Tour of the Castles of Bellinzona | Departure

The three Castles of Bellinzona are among the most impressive examples of medieval fortifications in the entire Alpine arc. With their crenellated walls, towers and gates, these magnificent monuments still amaze the visitor today. Individual departure at the end of the hike.
