Discovering Mario Botta's architecture in Mendrisio

This tour will take you on a journey of discovery of a series of primarily public architectural developments in the centre of Mendrisio, all designed by the architect Mario Botta during different periods. Your guide will provide you with information about the history and architecture of the various places you visit.

The guided tour begins with a visit to the large building in Piazzale alla Valle. After a short walk through the historical centre, we reach the university campus area where we will see the Academy of Architecture, the library and the Teatro dell'architettura. The last stage of the visit involves reaching the Fuoriporta building, where Mario Botta's atelier is located, to see the building next door, which houses the city's services.

This trip lasts around 2 hours and will give you the chance to find out more about the architect Mario Botta and his work, introducing you to his architectural decisions and materials. An unmissable opportunity!
