Tasting with a world champion
For many years, Paolo Basso has traveled the world's great wine capitals, tasting and selecting some of the world's most prestigious labels. This journey has led him to earn two of the profession's most prestigious awards: Best Sommelier of Europe in 2010 and Best Sommelier of the World in 2013.
After reaching the pinnacle of international tasting, Paolo has chosen to transform this experience into a personal project: creating wines that reflect the sensitivity and vision developed over a lifetime dedicated to taste. Together with his wife, Helene, he has found Ticino the ideal place to put down roots and give shape to this new adventure. Today, in their grotto in Mendrisio, small groups of enthusiasts can enjoy a rare experience: tasting Paolo Basso wines, guided directly by the man who created them after years of experimenting with the world's great wines.
The tasting takes place in a convivial and informal atmosphere, designed for wine lovers as well as those simply eager to explore it with curiosity. No expert knowledge required: the goal is to share the sensations, stories, and nuances that make each wine unique.
The wines mature in the natural cellars carved into the Mendrisio rock, beneath the cliffs of Monte Generoso, where temperatures and humidity remain naturally constant year-round. A special opportunity to enter the world of wine through the eyes of one of the most authoritative tasters of his generation.
