The Maia Forest Reserve encompasses the rolling hilly landscape between Losone and Arcegno, at an elevation of between 250 and just under 500 m a.s.l. It features on the list of natural landscapes, sites and monuments of national importance: the most characteristic and complete low-altitude glacial landscape in the whole of Switzerland. This broad-leaf forest is home to around twenty different tree varieties, primarily oak, ash, linden, cherry, alder, maple, birch and chestnut.

Visits:
- Period: all year. Access is not recommended with strong wind and snowy terrain.
- The Maia Forest Park is equipped with over 8 km of trails. Several entry points; we recommend starting the excursion to Arcegno. You are asked to follow the marked trails, to not access wetlands in any way and to keep dogs on a leash.
- Hiking boots are recommended. Guided tours are available on request.
