Ostello Montebello - Bellinzona Youth Hostel

The Montebello Hostel is located in a historic 1800s building at the foot of Montebello Castle, just 10-15 min. from the train station and a couple of minutes from Bellinzona's historic center. It is the ideal starting point for excursions as well as a transit point on the main North-South axis of the Alps. Thanks to the Ticino Ticket, exploring the region is very easy.

The building that hosts the hostel has a long history. In fact, it dates back to the 1800s, at that time called “Istituto Santa Maria” and run by the Sisters of Menzingen.
The hostel shares its spaces with the middle school “La Traccia” and the catering company Cronoparty, which provides breakfast to our guests.

Our double and single rooms offer privacy; 3-, 4-, 6- or 10-bed rooms are available for groups and families. Who wishes to share a room with other travelers can reserve a single bed in a dormitory (male and female are separated).
All rooms have a sink; shared showers and toilets can be found on each floor.
For those who wish, there are also some single and double rooms with private Shower/WC.

The garden with the pergola is a wonderful oasis to escape from the daily stress while being surrounded by nature.

We would like to remind that in Ticino, by law, people under 16 years of age who are not accompanied by an adult are NOT allowed to stay overnight, whereas minors between 16 and 18 years of age require a written and signed parental permission (form on request).

Also, please note that the Montebello Hostel is situated in close proximity of the railroad; cargo-trains run even during the night.
