Verdi's Requiem

To celebrate its twentieth anniversary, the Coro Lirico di Lugano presents Verdi’s Requiem on November 22, 2026 at LAC— a grand sacred work distinguished by its extraordinary emotional intensity.

Four internationally renowned soloists — Nino Michaidze (soprano), Julia Gertseva (mezzo-soprano), Mikheil Sheshaberidze (tenor), and Carlo Colombara (bass) — will blend their voices with those of a 130-member choir, accompanied by a large orchestra made up of musicians from some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

The performance is conducted by Maestro Andrea Cupia, an orchestral and choral conductor acclaimed for his outstanding musical and human qualities.

This lyrical oratorio combines the spirituality of the liturgy with moments of profound dramatic intensity, capable of deeply moving the human soul. It takes the listener on a powerful emotional journey, from the turmoil inspired by the idea of death to the gentle promise of hope, expressed through vivid musical colors, rhythms, and dynamic contrasts.

This is a rare opportunity to experience a work that holds a unique place in the global operatic repertoire, yet remains immediately accessible even to those new to opera.
