SlowUp Ticino

The eagerly awaited slowUp Ticino "experience a car-free day" returns on Sunday, April 19, 2026. This free, one-of-a-kind event will close a 50km stretch of road between Bellinzona and Locarno to motorized traffic, featuring parties, entertainment, and refreshments. A day dedicated to exercise and socializing, where you can easily get around by bicycle, rollerblades, on foot, or with other non-motorized vehicles on roads that are strictly closed to traffic. The route The slowUp Ticino route winds between the main hubs of Locarno and Bellinzona, and is breathtakingly scenic: from the charming Piazza Grande in Locarno to the historic center of Bellinzona and its castles (a UNESCO World Heritage site), passing along the shores of Lake Maggiore and the Piano di Magadino Park.
