New Year's Eve

The New Year's Eve represents for the citizens of Lugano and for those who are in the city for the festivities, an opportunity to get together and celebrate the arrival of 2024 in a cheerful and joyful atmosphere. Organised by RSI and the City of Lugano, the party on Sunday 31 December will start at 10:30 pm in Piazza della Riforma. Welcoming the public to the square will be the great energy of the DJ set with DJ Griso from RETE TRE. To wait together for the arrival of midnight, everyone is invited to meet in the square where from 11:50 pm the live broadcast on RSI LA1 will begin with Fabrizio Casati and live music by The Vad Vuc. At the end of the live broadcast, dancing will continue under the starry sky, together with DJ Griso until 2:00 am.

New Year's Ceremony

The New Year's celebrations will begin on Monday 1 January 2024 at 11:00 am, with a procession of the city's authorities and associations. The procession will start from Piazza della Riforma in the direction of Piazza Manzoni, will follow Riva Albertolli and will then reach Palazzo dei Congressi, where the official part and a convivial moment will be held. After the presentations of the Civic Fire Fighters Corps and the Lugano Volunteer Corps to the Mayor of Lugano Michele Foletti and the performances of the Civica Filarmonica of Lugano, the ceremony will start at 11.30 am in the amphitheatre hall of the Palazzo dei Congressi. Speeches by Lugano Mayor Michele Foletti and Marco Solari, Lugano citizen and former President of the Locarno Film Festival, are scheduled, who will convey to all present a reflection and a wish that may accompany them in the New Year. The ceremony, hosted by RSI journalist Davide Riva, will also be animated by artistic and musical interludes. An aperitif offered by the City and the exchange of New Year's greetings will follow at approximately 12:30 pm in Hall B of the Convention Centre.
