A Run to Bigorio on the historic Via Crucis
On Saturday, September 21, there will be the 12th edition of the Bigorio Run, a race organized by USC Capriaschese on the scenic 3.3-kilometer course with 201 meters of elevation gain. The start is at 4:30 p.m. from the old sports field Giascion in Tesserete, from where the competitors will face the first stretch on the flat among the apple trees of Sala, then take the steep mule track of the Santa Liberata. From here another transitional stretch with the fascinating passage through the village and countryside of Bigorio, before the historic Via Crucis which, with its 245 final steps, leads to the finish line near the monastery of Santa Maria.
A fast and nervous race which will again offer some new elements, such as the renovated pavement. The trial, is again part of the ASTi Mountain Cup and for the first time also in the Youth Running Cup, where the U16s will tackle the original 3.3-kilometer course, while for U14 and U12 there is a Minitrail from Bigorio to the monastery of about 1.5 km (+ 130 m) starting at 4:45 p.m. For the U10s will be offered a nice run to the monastery.
