Carnival 2026 - Bellinzona Region and Valleys

This year, the Bellinzona and Valleys region will once again offer a rich program of revelry, starting on January 15, 2026, and concluding on March 22, 2026, with the end of the Ambrosian Carnival.

In fact, two traditions coexist in the Canton: the Roman Carnival, which ends on Shrove Tuesday, and the Ambrosian Carnival, which continues until the following Saturday. For this reason, in various Ticino towns the celebrations take place at different times, before or after Shrove Tuesday.

The most important Carnival in the Canton is the Rabadan of Bellinzona, which takes place from Shrove Thursday to Shrove Tuesday. In many other villages, however, such as Biasca and several towns in the Valleys, Carnival is celebrated on the following days, following the Ambrosian tradition.
