Glacier Express

From Matterhorn to the Upper Engadine or vice versa in seven and a half hours.

There are of course faster ways to travel. But none as beautiful as the journey by Glacier Express, the panoramic train traveling right through the Swiss Alps. Up to the 2,033-meter-high Oberalp Pass, down into the Rhine Canyon, through 91 tunnels and over 291 bridges, from Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn, to the world-famous spa resort St. Moritz. The daytime journey by Glacier Express is anything but boring.

The panorama cars offer uninhibited views of Alpine passes and mountain lakes, steep cliffs and pristine forests. You will enjoy the sight of deep ravines formed by water that exhibit bizarre rock formations, and you will traverse gently sloping plains and characteristic mountain villages.

The first Glacier Express started in Zermatt in 1930, and today is one of the five worldwide best known tourist brands of Switzerland.
