Garzonera is located on a welcoming terrace on the edge of a forest of larches and firs, a short distance from the Gotthard massif with its imposing peaks overlooking much of the upper Leventina Valley.
The hut, completely renovated in 1988, has maintained the ancient characteristics of an alpine farmhouse that fits very well into the mountain environment, built with building materials typical of our valleys, a roof in stone, stone walls and part of the walls in wood.
Inside there is a spacious studio with wood and gas stove, a refectory with a wood stove that ensures warmth in all weather, a large table particularly robust. At the back there is the dormitory with about twenty beds, complete with mattress, pillows, linings and blankets.
The lighting is powered by a solar panel system. The toilets are located inside, you can have running water throughout the year, in winter only in the fountain located outside (except for unexpected events). The hut is easily accessible, especially during the summer, and offers several possibilities for excursions suitable for families, and beginners.
For the most willing, it is possible to undertake a beautiful traverse to Fusio, in Val Lavizzara, passing through the lake of Prato, Sassello pass, lake Sambuco and finally Fusio. Ski mountaineers can find good snow conditions until late spring, thanks to the good exposure of the whole area. You can reach the hut by taking the Airolo-Sasso della Boccia lift facilities, descending on the slopes to the Ravina Alp, then via Pian Taiöi you reach Garzonera.
