The young company FutureFarmers, led by agronomists Davide Croci and Lorenzo Tognola, aims to implement projects that increase economic, social, and environmental sustainability.
One example is the "Zucche Nostrane" project, which consists of self-service carts distributed throughout the area. From September to early November, pumpkins from Ticino, produced by farms in the Mendrisiotto and Lugano regions, are available for purchase. Unsold pumpkins are transformed into local pumpkin gnocchi, ensuring the product's value even during the winter.
Many local businesses are involved in this initiative, which promotes sustainability, local development, and social inclusion. In addition to involving producers near the self-service carts, FutureFarmers collaborates with the Fondazione Sant'Angelo in Loverciano and the Fondazione Don Guanella in Riva San Vitale, which manage the carts, including cleaning, filling, and maintenance. Pumpkin processing is currently guaranteed by the artisanal pasta factory Spiga Regina in Mendrisio.
** „Zucche Nostrane“ are featured at various local events.**
