For the 28th year, the Muggio Valley Ethnographic Museum and the Friends of the Graa are organizing the traditional chestnut delivery, loaded with the Graa di Cabbio. To keep this beautiful local tradition alive, we invite all interested parties to contribute by delivering chestnuts to the graa (southern edge of the village, near the cemetery).
After delivery, the graa will be loaded and lit: the drying process will last at least three weeks. At the end of the process, after the threshing, everyone will be able to collect their dried chestnuts!
Delivery Instructions Only healthy chestnuts will be accepted: beautiful, clean, dry, shiny, free of mold, and not stored in plastic bags. The organizers reserve the right to reject any that do not meet the required criteria. Since they lose a lot of weight during drying, we encourage you to deliver at least two or three dried chestnuts.
If harvested early, they should not be frozen or immersed in water, but stored in open crates in a dry, well-ventilated place, turning them occasionally.
