When all that remains of works of art are photographs…
Coffins from Ghana always attract great interest in Western art museums and galleries.
Since 2004, the photographer and ethnologist Regula Tschumi has been studying and documenting these works of art.
These sought-after works, beyond their exhibition value, bear witness to the cultural significance attributed to funeral rites in Ghana. Thanks to her many years of dedication, Regula Tschumi now presents her photographs, which highlight the social importance of funeral rites and of this artistic form, as colourful as it is ephemeral.
