Toku Quartet Feat. Gregory Hutchinson
Toku, vocals, trumpet & flugelhorn - David Torkanowsky, piano - Dave Blenkhorn, guitar - Darryl Hall, bass – Gergory Hutchinson, drums
An emblematic figure in the Japanese jazz scene, trumpeter and singer Toku has released a dozen albums and collaborated in the United States with Kenny Barron, Ron Carter, Chris Cheek, and Lew Soloff. Now also known in Europe, he recorded an album with French jazz musicians just before the pandemic. As a singer with a soft and melancholic style like Chet Baker, Toku will perform at the Jazz Cat Club with a remarkable quartet, where drummer Gregory Hutchinson particularly stands out, known for his collaborations with Roy Hargrove, the Ray Brown Trio, Eric Reed, Joe Henderson, Joshua Redman, and other jazz greats.
