The women of Isone 1820

​
Until around 1820, the women of the Municipality of Isone did not sing in church during Mass; only the men joined their voices with that of the parish priest.

However, when the young priest Cesare Trefogli from Torricella was appointed parish priest of Isone, everything changed. This historic event forms the basis of the choral concert.

‘The Women of Isone 1820’ is part of the ‘Suite corale - Suite chorale - Chorische Suite’ project, featuring little-known stories of women from the Cantons of Ticino, Lucerne, Basel-Landschaft, Zurich, Vaud and Geneva, told through music by exceptional choirs.
