The project gathered the voices of writers who described the landscape through prose, poetry, diaries, essays and travel accounts.
Curated by the Cultural Observatory of the Canton of Ticino (OC), the project mapped a unique cultural heritage consisting of 3,321 quotations, 875 authors, and 372 locations across Ticino and Italian-speaking Graubünden, also thanks to the active participation of the public. The testimonies are organised on a map that outlines a true literary geography of the territory, often offering previously unexplored perspectives.
The initiative also includes the Territories of Words series, a collection of booklets dedicated to specific geographical areas. Not conceived as an anthology of quotations, but as a tool designed to encourage the exploration of the territory and its related imagination, creating a bridge between landscape and culture.
The exhibition is promoted by the Division of Culture and University Studies and curated by the SUPSI Institute of Design, which also highlights the work of students from the Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication. They were invited to translate words into images and to create a dialogue between literary memory and contemporary sensibility.
