Puccini al LAC

On 10 November at 5 p.m., the Coro Lirico di Lugano presents the concert ‘Puccini al LAC’. The hundredth anniversary of his death is an excellent opportunity to pay tribute to the composer from A to T, from the first opera-ballet, ‘Le Villi’, with its heroine Anna, to the last unfinished opera and its mysterious protagonist Turandot.

The chorus, accompanied by the Opera ViVa Orchestra, is conducted by Maestro Andrea Cupia, a particularly sensitive and gifted performer who succeeds in bringing out the most intimate aspects of melodrama.
Three internationally acclaimed soloists will sing the solo parts intertwined with the choral ones: Serena Farnocchia, soprano, David Baños, tenor and Eugene Villanueva, baritone.

The audience will be able to perceive the personality and feel the emotions of Puccini’s characters: the fresh naivety of the unhappy Anna, the tragic fates of Madama Butterfly and Tosca, the poignant beauty of the Intermezzo from the opera Manon Lescaut, and the great crescendo of the fairytale and symbolic love between Prince Kalaf and the irresistible, icy and cruel Princess Turandot, culminating in the iconic climax of the aria ‘Nessun dorma’.
