New Year's Eve with Rete Tre and The Sunny Boys

After the great success of the "Cialtroni" at Lugano Marittima this summer and the live broadcasts from Rete Tre’s cabin on Piazza della Riforma, DJ Griso, joined by Julie Meletta, will host the magical New Year’s Eve on the square.

From 10:45 PM to 11:45 pm, the cover band "The Sunny Boys" will take the stage, bringing their energy and vibrancy to get the entire square dancing. The celebration continues with Rete Tre's highly anticipated countdown, followed by DJ Griso, who will keep the party going until 2:00 am.

New Year Ceremony

To celebrate the arrival of the New Year, the Municipality of Lugano invites everyone to join the New Year’s celebrations at the Palazzo dei Congressi.

The festivities will begin on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 11:00 am with a procession starting from Piazza della Riforma, passing through Piazza Manzoni and Riva Albertolli, and arriving at 11:10 AM at the Palazzo dei Congressi, where the official ceremony and a convivial gathering will take place.

After Mayor Michele Foletti of Lugano welcomes the City Fire Brigade and the Volunteer Corps of Lugano, the event will feature musical performances by the Civica Filarmonica. Guests will then move to the amphitheater hall, where the ceremony will begin at 11:30 am.

This year’s special guest is Mattia Croci-Torti, coach of FC Lugano and a prominent figure in Swiss and international football. Moderated by Davide Riva, journalist for RSI, Mayor Michele Foletti and "Crus" will share their stories and extend their wishes for 2025 to everyone present.

The event will also feature artistic and musical entertainment.Performances will include young talents from the Music School and Pre-College Department of the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, the violin-guitar duo Anton Jablokov & Stefano Moccetti, and the RMT Hip Hop Crew from the MAT Artistic Center in Lugano, who will captivate the audience with their skill and quality. A sign language interpreter will be present during the ceremony.

At around 12:30 pm, everyone is warmly invited to the City's reception in Room B of the Palazzo dei Congressi to exchange New Year’s greetings.
