Legend has it that electrical lighting arrived in Mendrisio before it did in Paris, hence the saying ‘Mendrís e pö París!’: first Mendrisio and then Paris! Probably not true; in fact, it seems that the saying is rather linked to stories of emigration, but little does it matter! It testifies to the pride our ancestors felt for their village.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the re-foundation of the Corporazione Patrizi di Mendrisio, a game is proposed through the streets of the Magnifico Borgo to discover the Mendrisio of the past.
This re-edition of ten historical postcards bears on each the cartographic coordinates of the spot where the photograph was taken.
By going to the indicated place, one can make a comparison between the landscape of then and now.
Pick up the event postcards at the totems located at the SBB station, Piazza del Ponte and Piazzale alla Valle.
