Gospel & Spirituals - The Harlem Sisters

For 34 years, Free Green Music has been organizing six Gospel concerts in December with the best groups on the international scene. For 2024 the concerts are held in Losone, Bellinzona, Locarno, Airolo and San Bernardino.

The highlight of the Airolo concert, scheduled for 29.12.2024 at 5:00 p.m. at the Parish Church, will be The Harlem Sisters.

The Harlem Sisters’ female quintet was formed in 2014 in the Harlem neighborhood of New York, initiated by singers Becky White and Sabrina Morris, and the name reflects their origins in Harlem Sisters of Gospel. Three other talented voices then joined, and the ensemble draws inspiration from great traditional artists like Mahalia Jackson, Dorothy Norwood, and Aretha Franklin. Their repertoire includes classic songs such as "Down By the Riverside," "Joshua fit the Battle of Jericho," and the iconic "Oh Happy Day." During the Christmas season, they will perform favorites like "Silent Night" and "Feliz Navidad," beloved songs from the international canon that are highly popular with European audiences.
