Good Friday Concert - OSI

For this edition, the OSI will be joined by the Swiss Radio and Television Choir, under the direction of Maestro Diego Fasolis, for an evening dedicated to great sacred music. This will begin with a tribute to the dean of living Ticino composers, Francesco Hoch, with his work "Z against Z." This will be followed by works from different centuries: the tonal and consolatory Requiem for soprano, choir, and orchestra (from 1985) by the English composer Sir John Rutter, widely celebrated around the world this past year for his eightieth birthday. The performance of the Requiem will feature a distinguished artist, the English soprano Betty Makharinsky. The third chosen work is the ascetic, spare, and incisive setting of the lauda attributed to Jacopone da Todi, the Stabat Mater (1898), in which an elderly Giuseppe Verdi explored the mystery of Mary's pain on Golgotha at the dawn of the twentieth century.

The dress rehearsal of the concert will be held on Thursday, April 2, again at 8:00 PM, and admission is CHF 20. Young culture pass holders will have free admission to the dress rehearsal, subject to online ticket reservations at www.osi.swiss.
