The Italian-speaking part of Switzerland does not have the custom of playing the alphorn in its traditions, although in recent years a hundred or so people have been passionately trying their hand at playing this instrument in Italian-speaking Switzerland as well.
The 'Corni dal Generus', with the valuable collaboration of the 'Nüm dal Corno' group, offer the Alpine Horn Festival in the picturesque setting of Castelgrande in Bellinzona.
The festival also includes a competition where the horn players can perform individually or in groups in front of a jury.
The intention is to unify the whole of Switzerland in this field and to strengthen the spirit of friendship between all horn players and fans of this instrument north and south of the Alps.
