Andreas Laake
Born in London in 1961 and raised in Liestal, the violinist and conductor showed his musical talent at a young age, performing as a duo with his sister Claudia Laake and with Daniel Ott. At the age of 17, he was already appointed concertmaster in various orchestras. As a soloist, he played all of Bach's concertos, Vivaldi's Seasons, the concertos of Haydn, Mendelssohn and Bruch, and Mozart's Haffner Serenade. He began his violin studies with Armin Tenger and completed his musical education in Paris with Annie Jodry and at the Vienna Conservatory with Michael Schnitzler. He began his training as a conductor with Jean Jacques Werner in Paris and later completed his studies in orchestral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik in Zürich with Marc Kissóczy. Andreas Laake was principal of second violins of the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana for 35 years. He has conducted the Orchestra da Camera del Locarnese for more than 25 years. He is also the founder and conductor of the Camerata dei Castelli, with whom he debuted in 2019 as part of the official concert series at the prestigious Berlin Philharmonie.
The OCL is a chamber orchestra founded in 1994 and conducted by Andreas Laake since 1997. It is a group of about twenty amateur musicians who, through intensive study over the years, have achieved a respectable technical level and a place of their own in the Ticino music scene. The aim of the orchestra is to promote the love of music by offering both amateurs and professional musicians the opportunity to rehearse various concert programmes together. The OCL regularly gives young talents the opportunity to gain experience as soloists.
