Concert Prem Joshua Project

The Multi-instrumentalist Prem Joshua and the singer Sanou Olszewski explore the
musical space beyond Indian and Western cultures: a journey ranging from meditative and virtuosic Indian ragas to modern, energetic rhythms and loops. World music that not only delights the ears and the soul, but also makes you want to jump up and dance.

Prem Joshua: (sitar, bamboo flutes, soprano saxophone, vocals, samples, composer)
In 1977, at the age of just 18, he set off on his first road trip to India. His fascination with and love for India were by no means merely a superficial, fleeting hippie dream: over the following years, he devoted himself intensely to the study of Indian classical music under the guidance of various renowned masters. However, his great passion was from the outset directed towards a crossover sound that united the diverse cultures of the East and the West. These musical endeavours were particularly appreciated in India, where he still gives most of his concerts today. To date, he has released 18 albums and has toured the world over the last 30 years.

Sanou Olszewski: (vocals, tanpura, ukulele)
Sanou has a musical background in rock and soul. She settled in India and has studied raga singing there with various masters of Indian vocal art over the past 12 years. With her versatile voice, she brings a unique quality to the repertoire.
