Christmas in Lugano

Piazza della Riforma will be the heart of the event: the tree-lighting ceremony on November 26 will kick off the festivities, marking the start of the Christmas market featuring local crafts, food chalets, and live music.

Among this year’s new features, from November 27 to January 10, the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura cultural center will host a winter village designed for families, young people, and tourists, featuring an ice rink, a market, and a food court in Piazza Luini, as well as a space open to everyone in its Panoramic Hall starting December 24. The program includes ice performances, workshops, readings, and other initiatives.

The Christmas spirit will also extend to Parco Ciani, where light displays will line the lakeside promenade. The “Talking Tree” will return to Parco Ciani, enchanting children with a Christmas story. Rounding out the festivities will be the Family Village, concerts, DJ sets, and various performances throughout the city.

“Christmas in the Square” will enliven the city through January 10, including New Year’s Eve celebrations in the square and the traditional New Year’s gathering with local officials.
