Carla Ferriroli – Stratigrafia tra le pagine

The first guest artist to be invited by the "Amici dell'Atelier Calcografico" association in 2026 is Carla Ferriroli. In keeping with tradition, the artist has created an original engraving for the association's members, printed at the Novazzano atelier. She is also exhibiting at the Biblioteca Salita dei Frati in Lugano.

The Ticino-based artist has been refining her perception of her native region for many years – tirelessly exploring the Alpine landscape of the Blenio Valley. This work takes the form of drawings, watercolours and, in particular, through the printmaking techniques of etching, woodcut and lithography.

The print "Stratigrafia", from which the exhibition takes its name, evokes the visual experience of transformation over time – a phenomenon that is characteristic not only of geological processes, but also of the technical processes involved in chalcography. The artist has been exploring this subject in depth during her various stays abroad over the last few years.

Alongside a selection of the artist's books, which are inspired by prose, poetry and notes by Swiss writers, other aspects of this "geological exploration" will be on display.
