Cantonal shooting festival

4-6 July 2025
11-13 July 2025
17-20 July 2025

The 20th edition of the Ticino Cantonal Shooting Festival, scheduled for July 2025 in Upper Ticino, was presented at a press conference in Bellinzona.

The President of the Organisation Committee, Michele Guerra, together with the President of the Steering Committee, Maurizio Gianella, and the President of the Ticino Federation of Shooting Companies, Doriano Junghi, outlined the details of the event. The event represents a return after nine years, with the last edition taking place in 2016 in Mendrisiotto. It is expected to be an important occasion for Ticino and Swiss shooters, with competitions and a friendly atmosphere.

The festival will take place over three consecutive weekends in July, with the participation of seven shooting clubs from Upper Ticino. Disciplines include rifle at 50 and 300 metres, and pistol at 25 and 50 metres. Registration will open in December 2024 at www.tcat25.ch. The host region has a strong tradition in shooting sports, with a Ticino shooter among the best in the world. BancaStato is the main sponsor of the event. Although the name might suggest an exclusive participation of Ticino shooters, the Cantonal Festivals are open to participants from all over Switzerland. Around 8,000-9,000 people are expected to attend, including from German-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Switzerland. There are only a few Shooting Festivals in Switzerland each year, with three events planned for 2025, including one in Ticino. The event will be a test-bed for an innovative mode, with the introduction of the digital shooting booklet accessible via smartphone. There will be side events and tourism for visitors and locals. The organisation will actively involve the local population, with voluntary activities and the involvement of secondary school students.
