Blues to Bop

Blues to Bop, part of the Lugano LongLake Festival, is the event that has been celebrating the blues in Lugano since 1989: every summer, it brings free concerts featuring local and international artists to the city’s squares. Thanks to a careful selection of musicians, the festival highlights the universality of the blues, seen as a common language capable of uniting different cultures through music.

Blues to Bop returns this year from July 17 to 19 with a program spread across the city’s squares, reaffirming its free-spirited nature: street music, direct interaction with the audience, and a living tradition that stretches from the first traveling bluesmen to the present day, offering the audience unique moments.

The guests of the 36th edition of Blues to Bop will be Alice Armstrong (UK), Annie & The Caldwells (US), Bob Log III (US), Bonny B & Ice B (CH), Delanie Pickering (US), Ghalia Volt (BE), Guy King (US), Jack Broadbent (UK), Jack In the Box (CH), Neal Sugarman Hammond Organ Combo (US), Piper & the Hard Times (US), Savana Funk (IT), The Delta Magpie (CH), The Fat Six (DE), Walter Baumgartner & Hannes Kasehs (CH/AUT), Walt’s Blues Box (CH), Vanesa Harbek Duo (ARG), Wiyaala (GH/UK), and ZBlues Band ft. Thornetta Davis (US).

Some of the artists will be guests at Blues@School, sessions dedicated to sharing and exploring the history and origins of the blues.
