The Titta Ratti Atelier hosts the exhibition "May I come in? Relics of Private Life in the Ratti House in Crana Malvaglia - Milan - Paris", from December 6 to March 30, 2025.
An inheritance that surprises.
The materials of the 20th century: from glass to plastic, from silk to polyester, a hundred years of common and sometimes extraordinary objects.
When circumstances require clearing out a home, the intimacy of the people who lived within those walls is inevitably violated.
With this awareness, the Foundation decided to proceed with the clearing of the Ratti family house, belonging to Angelo Ratti (1855-1922), who emigrated to Milan and made his fortune by opening a renowned fruit shop on Via Montenapoleone.
The collected items (refined clothing and fabrics, papers with books and private photographs, crockery and utensils…), scattered among countless trinkets carefully stored in trunks and wardrobes scattered throughout the icy rooms up to the attic, tell the story of a frugal and eclectic family (artistic culture, humble trades to make ends meet, mountaineering, and travel…), equally divided between the elegance and lifestyle of Milan and Paris and the archaic rural reality of Malvaglia and its valley, perceived with a disenchanted but benevolent gaze and lived with ease and authenticity.
