The start of the winter season in Airolo-Pesciüm is scheduled for the 9 of December 2023.
The ski resort
Immersed in the snow.
At the foot of the Gotthard massif there is a magical mountain that in winter turns into a paradise for all skiers and snow lovers. A small resort able to be home to many champions, a dynamic resort always looking for new things to offer its customers, where everyone can have fun and live an exciting experience on the snow.
Airolo-Pesciüm can be easily reached thanks to the highway, whose exit is only 200 meters from the more than 500 free parking spaces of the ski resort, and by train: a free shuttle bus then provides the connection to the departure station. From here a modern and spacious cable car will transport you in just 5 minutes to the center of this mountain of emotions, experiences and entertainment!
Airolo-Pesciüm is for everyone
Did you know that in Airolo there is the best snow in the whole Southern Alps? The particular exposure of the slopes and the strategic position to the south but close to the Alps ensure that the snow conditions in this ski area are always almost optimal, attracting all ski lovers. Beginners will find slopes suitable for their first turns, intermediates will have fun on more challenging tracks and experts will be able to launch themselves at full speed on runs difficult to tame.
And for those who want to enjoy the panorama more peacefully, there are also over 10 km of snowshoe trails that will allow you to enjoy the relaxing silence and wilderness of the surrounding mountains.
After a good snowfall, Airolo-Pesciüm is also perfect for discovering freeride in complete safety. And thanks to the Avalanche Training Center you can also simulate different critical situations and learn how to handle emergency situations!
Finally, if you love freestyle, the slopes in the ski area will give you moments of enthusiasm: thanks to their natural conformation, the slopes of Valle Leventina are full of strategic points where you can practice with humps and jumps. And if you just want to admire the stunts, there are many teams and athletes who train in Airolo-Pesciüm giving life to a crazy show.
In February 2020 two new black slopes, dedicated to two great champions who grew up on the snows of Airolo-Pesciüm: Doris De Agostini and Michela Figini, were officially opened. Thanks to the new slopes, there are now more than 30 kilometers of ski runs, located in a breathtaking landscape between 1175 and 2250 meters above sea level, which will allow you to feel the adrenaline rush in your veins.
An area to enjoy
In Airolo-Pesciüm you will also find a renewed focus on gastronomy. The restaurant La Stüa, completely renovated at the end of 2019, is now the flagship of gastronomy in the area, and offers a cuisine based on local products processed in a simple and accurate way, so that you can perceive the flavors of Ticino's culinary tradition. On sunny days you can also enjoy the new wide outdoor terrace. La Sala is instead the ideal restaurant for those who want to make a short stop before putting their skis back on and returning to the slopes.?
