Nara is the jewel in the heart of the Blenio Valley. Located on the sunny slopes above Leontica the area connected with mountain transportation facilities extends from 1400 to 2200 meters above sea level, immersed in a natural environment that leaves you speechless. In summer just like in winter Nara is a region full of treasures for sportsmen, nature as well as culture lovers to discover.
The Nara region is accessible in summer by private car and in winter by ski lift. During the Summer, the lifts will only be open during events (information www.nara.ch or our website, events section).
It is the largest winter sports destination of the region, with its highest point ‘Bassa di Nara’ located on the ridge to the Leventina. The stunning, sweeping view from Nara encompasses the Gotthard Massif and extends as far as the Rheinwaldhorn. The area offers emotions for the whole family. Besides the slopes and snow park for skiers, the trails for winter excursionists, Nara is also famous for its sledge run.
In summer Nara it is a paradise for hikers and bikers. The network offers trails for every needs and leads to various scenic spots in the entire region from where spectacular panoramic vistas over the wide Blenio valley can be enjoyed. This all makes Nara the ideal region for a holiday or daytrip dedicated to outdoor activities for all tastes. A popular destination close by is the Romanesque church of San Carlo di Negrentino with frescos that were painted nearly 1000 years ago.
