PalaCinema

PalaCinema Locarno SA is the audiovisual and audiovisual arts hub based in Locarno, a few steps from the internationally well-known Piazza Grande: the cultural project manifests Locarno's commitment to audiovisuals.

The building is the headquarters of the Locarno Film Festival, and was inaugurated in 2017 on the occasion of its 70th edition. In addition to the Locarno Film Festival, the PalaCinema Locarno SA houses other cultural and educational institutions: the CISA film school, the Ticino Film Commission, SUPSI workshops and the Locarno antenna of RSI. In this way, it has been possible to create a privileged networking and development platform for collaborations between operators in the film and audiovisual production sectors, allowing the cultural and economic reality of the region to grow.

The building comprises three cinemas with a total of over 700 seats (472; 129 and 113). A 500-square-metre event hall and a terrace overlooking the historic centre of Locarno are available for event rentals. A bar-restaurant overlooking Piazza Remo Rossi completes the offer.

The building is the work of Alejandro Zaera-Polo and Maider Llaguno-Munitxa of the AZPLM studio based in London and New York and is an important work of contemporary architecture.
