Greina Trail

The Greina Trail is ready for its 6th edition - new Val da Camp Trail

On 19 and 20 August, the 6th edition of the Greina Trail will take place. This traditional mountain running race, divided into several disciplines, has been enjoying great success since its first edition, among sportsmen and enthusiasts. Participants will be able to choose four different disciplines with an important novelty. All of the routes run in the Soprasosto region, also touching on the canton of Graubünden. During the weekend, numerous participants are expected to arrive not only from Ticino, but also from all over Switzerland and neighbouring Italy.

In view of the organisational difficulties, it has been decided to 'freeze' the SUPER TRAIL in order to make room for a new, shorter route that will run through the Valle di Campo via the Capanna Bovarina; the VAL DA CAMP TRAIL, 14.5 km long with an altitude difference of 980 m.

The traditional challenge is the CLASSIC TRAIL, which attracts many athletes through the best views of the Greina, 27 km long and with a positive and negative altitude difference of 1,440 metres. A great classic that never goes out of fashion! This race is also part of the ASTi Trail Cup 2023.

Those who love pure climbing can instead sign up for IN TÖIRA, a consolidated vertical to take their breath away, in this truly thrilling 4.5 km climb to the summit of the spectacular Pizzo Rossetto, from where the beauty of the Valle del Sole can be admired, with a positive height difference of 900 metres.

Another new feature this year is the WALKING, which will take place in the beautiful Val di Campo no longer on Saturday, but on Sunday: The route runs mostly on dirt roads and red and white paths.
Ascending from the right-hand side in the direction of Fopp Zott, passing through the Orsera village and returning from the opposite bank via Risareta in the direction of Campo Blenio.

In view of last year's excellent participation, a revamped version of the KIDS TRAIL, a fun competition for children, will be held on Saturday. The race will be organised in collaboration with the Blenio Swiss Ski School.

The Greina Trail village will be open on Saturday and Sunday, and it will be possible to have lunch and dinner directly on site, with aperitifs to music and much more.
