Ski touring is a sport that can be practised from early winter until late spring, and is particularly appreciated by mountain and snow lovers.
There are numerous routes and ascents to peaks and passes in the Blenio Valley, the Leventina Valley and the Bedretto Valley. The Bedretto Valley is considered a sort of "paradise" for ski touring and for this reason in the past years the "Tris Rotondo" was organised, an international competition that managed to attract several hundred athletes. Ski touring offers those who practice it the vision of uncontaminated scenery, far from the ski resorts and immersed in great silence to discover strong emotions.
There are hotels and restaurants in the valley, and alpine huts at higher altitudes where hikers can rest and spend the night.
Excursions with sealskins require the necessary skills, knowledge of the area and adequate preparation; it is very important to inform oneself in advance about the weather forecast, snow conditions and the avalanche bulletin.
It is also necessary to carry suitable equipment: in addition to suitable boots and skis, it is essential to have avalanche safety equipment. You may also need extra equipment such as crampons, ice axe, harness and rope. Last but not least, you should also pack other fundamental elements: respect for the mountain and prudence.
