In autumn 2022, MASI Lugano will present an extraordinary ensemble of original drawings and etchings by Paul Klee (Münchenbuchsee, 1879 - Muralto, 1940), from a private collection, made between 1910 and 1940.
The works on display in the exhibition will shed light on an important aspect of his work, namely the fundamental standing of drawing and the line as the starting point for the visual transposition of an idea.
Starting in the 1970s, the collectors’ particular interest in this element of Klee’s artistic production has led them to put together a body of approximately 70 works, consisting of pencil, pen and pastel drawings, watercolours, etchings and lithographs, which now form an exceptionally coherent collection. This exhibition will be the first to display this collection in its entirety in a museum setting.
