Sentiero Smeraldo Sagno - Cabbio

The «Sentiero Smeraldo» (Emerald Trail) is a project of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) realised in co-operation with the office of tourism as part of Switzerland's «Emerald Network». Its goal is to publicise and raise awareness about the Emerald species and habitats of Mendrisiotto - one of three places in the canton of Ticino richest in these rare and endangered species and habitats.

This walk offers you many opportunities along the way to marvel at the natural wonders of Ticino.
From Sagno, walk along the ridge to Valleggia. From here it is worth the while to visit the 1,325-metre-high peak of Italy's Mount Bisbino.
You won't want to miss the fabulous panoramic view! Follow the forest tracks via Alpe di Loasa to Val della Crotta and continue on to the other side of the valley to Cabbio. In Cabbio be sure to visit the Ethnographic Museum of the Muggio Valley and see the altar in the Church of S. Salvatore.
