Path Smeraldo Serpiano - Stabio

The "Sentiero Smeraldo" (Emerald Trail) is a project of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) realised in co-operation with the office of tourism as part of Switzerland's "Emerald Network". Its goal is to publicise and raise awareness about the Emerald species and habitats of Mendrisiotto - one of three places in the canton of Ticino richest in these rare and endangered species and habitats.

Leave Serpiano and follow the unpaved trails and forest tracks to the highest point in the tour, Mount Pravello.
Here you'll have the opportunity to spend some time in the picnic area and marvel at the fantastic view. Not far off is the Poncione d'Arzo, just one metre less in altitude. Afterwards, head back down to the village of Arzo, which offers a variety of different points of interest to suit just about everyone. Of special note is the quarry.
Via Besazio you will soon reach the "PreMurin" nature reserve. Take your time as you pass through the plain and savour some of the beautiful, little known spots in the area before you arrive in Stabio.
