La Camelina – our spacious and fully equipped vacation apartment has a practical floor plan, yet is elegant in appearance. It offers a wonderful view of Lake Maggiore, the mountains around Monte Tamaro, and the Magadino plain. The apartment is accessible at ground level as the top unit of a sophisticatedly arranged, Mediterranean-style terraced property. It is ideal for couples or families of up to 5 people and offers you the perfect starting point to discover the beauty of the Locarnese region while relaxing in a private atmosphere. Enjoy the peace and quiet at the end of the road at the top of Contra, right at the start of the hiking trail. An environment that invites you to explore.

Inside, you will find a comfortably furnished living area that leaves nothing to be desired (the gallery is private and not accessible to tenants). Two bedrooms with partially accessible built-in wardrobes ensure an undisturbed night's sleep. Both bathrooms, one en suite to the larger bedroom with a large bathtub and one with a shower, offer sufficient comfort and privacy for all guests. La Camelina is also suitable for winter use, thanks to underfloor heating throughout the apartment. A standing fan provides refreshment on warmer days, although the elevated location (580m above sea level) means that temperatures feel more comfortable than in the valley. The modern amenities also include a ceramic hob, a Nespresso coffee machine, a kettle, and a dishwasher—everything you need to cater for yourself. In addition to the beautifully situated pool, entertainment is provided by the smart TV and the proximity to the mountain landscape and nature right on your doorstep.

The outdoor area of this beautiful retreat leaves nothing to be desired. A private terrace with a large sunshade and an additional small weather-protected balcony invite you to enjoy the idyllic tranquility and fresh air. The communal pool area is a real highlight. Wonderfully located, it is deep enough on one side to take a dip and has a slightly shallower area for small children on the other. PLEASE NOTE: There is no supervision, i.e., pool users are responsible for themselves and especially for their minor children. In summer, bees also gather at the edge of the pool; this cannot be prevented. They are not aggressive, but children and people with allergies in particular should be aware of this. The pool is usually open from Easter to mid-October (please check with us in advance if necessary). It is NOT heated. In summer (July/October), when the weather is suitable, it reaches a temperature of 22 to 25 degrees Celsius; in the early and late seasons, it is usually a little cooler due to the weather.

The location of our vacation apartment, at the top of Contra, is simply unbeatable. It is best reached by car via the neighborhood road. Access by train and bus is worth considering for fit people who consciously want to do without a car and who are confident they can manage the last 15 to 20 minutes on foot via the stairway (100 m difference in altitude) from the village center. Two modern, full-suspension electric bikes can be rented (CHF 75/week each), allowing you to explore Tenero and the Locarnese region without breaking a sweat.

The apartment is located right on the edge of beautiful hiking trails and offers everything you need for a perfect vacation experience: peace and relaxation, picturesque surroundings, easy accessibility, sporting activities at the pool or hiking, excellent shopping in Tenero (grocery stores also open on Sundays), an attractive cultural offering in Locarno (Moon&Stars, Int. Film Festival, etc.) and Ascona (Jazz Festival etc.), 3 golf courses within 10 km and much more. The picturesque village center of Contra is 500 meters away on foot, via one of the typical stairways (600 steps, some fitness required - or you can take the car or your own or rented e-bikes for convenience). There is a widely renowned grill restaurant there (Osteria Ferriroli; reservations recommended). For sports enthusiasts, the beach, Lake Maggiore with its wide range of water sports, mini golf course and the national sports center in Tenero are not far away. The cable car station in Orselina towards Cimetta can be reached in 10 minutes by car or 20 minutes by bike. Discover the impressive mountain world on Cimetta with views of Switzerland's highest mountain, Monte Rosa, which is ideal for hiking, biking, and adventure.
