The designs produced during the annual event will contribute to the ongoing development of Monte Carasso. They will promote greater knowledge of the location and ensure that the planning concept for Monte Carasso established by the architect Luigi Snozzi continues to evolve.
The projects will help to review the original planning process, as the housing development rules and building regulations can be revised continually in accordance with the results of individual projects. The seminar will focus on real projects for clients from the public and private sectors in Monte Carasso and the surrounding area. The seminar will last two weeks. It will take the form of a design workshop and it will be led by the course director with assistance from architects. At the end of the seminar, the lecturers, the architects from the committee and an independent architect invited by the organizers will assess the projects produced by the participants.
During the seminar, there will be a number of public conferences involving architects from Ticino and other countries. Previous seminars have seen the participation of Michele Arnaboldi, Raffaele Cavadini, Pierre-Alain Croset, Aurelio Galfetti, Mario Botta, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Livio Vacchini, Esteve Bonell, Gonçalo Byrne, Bernard Huet, Alvaro Siza, Roberto Masiero, Francesco Venezia and Paulo Mendes da Rocha.
