Galà dei Castelli - International meeting of athletics

World class athletics is coming once more to the Stadio Comunale in Bellinzona thanks to the eighth GALÀ DEI CASTELLI.

Lining up of the best swiss athletes and many stars of international track and field, Galà dei Castelli has become the most important recurrent event in Italian speaking Switzerland, a big popular party and an unmissable showcase for all sports and entertainment fans.

On the 15th September 2020, to celebrate the 10th edition of the meeting, Bellinzona will welcome under its famous and beautiful castles Swiss Sportsperson of 2019, and World bronze medalist Mujinga Kambundji and two-time European champion Lea Sprunger. Both swiss stars will run on the Stadio Comunale’s track over their favorite events -200m and 400m hurdles, respectively- only a few weeks before leaving for Tokyo, and the Olympic Games.

In the past fans have been able to witness great performances from, among many others, 100m World champion Justin Gatlin, 4th fastest man in history over 100m Asafa Powell, Olympic gold medalist in shot put Ryan Croruser, the speed queen Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (5 individual gold at Worlds and 2 at the Olympics) or the best discus thrower of the last 2 decades, Sandra Perkovic. Trying to top the 19 olympic, 48 world and 30 european medals that entertained Bellinzona in 2019, this year’s lineup will once again feature many amazing track and field champions.
